I was recently listening to an old episode of The New Yorker's excellent Fiction podcast a few weeks ago on which Tobias Wolffe read Denis Johnson's story Emergency from the collection Jesus' Son. Jesus could directly command the dead man to get up. However, while all of these stories are amazing and inspiring, they pale in comparison to the greatest story ever told. But that all changed when Jesus entered her life and brought her son back to her. The underlying difference is that one is a prophet – a great one at that; and the other, the Son of God!
